Helping Habitat
Student organizations at IUSM complement the learning that takes place in the classroom. The organizations fall into three main categories: Medical Student Council, Student Interest Groups, and Service Learning Projects.
- The Medical Student Council (MSC) is comprised of executive officers, regional liaisons, and class officers elected by each of the cohorts. The MSA Office of Mentoring and Student Development provides support for the MSC.
- Student Interest Groups (SIGs) are, in most cases, groups of students who have an interest in a particular medical specialty. These groups typically have a faculty sponsor who practices in the specialty.
- Service Learning Projects at IUSM are numerous and varied. The Office of Medical Service Learning (OMSL) supplies advice and support. The projects are organized and led by student leaders.
