THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG: The IUWare CD has a lot of good software on it. Since this software and much more is available as a free download to IU students, it makes sense to use the IUware CD Fall 2008 web page as a checklist and download the basics from there. To download the software, though, including connection software, you have to connect to the internet….

In your wireless connection manager, you will see three IU options:

To get started with wireless at IUPUI, the wizards are very handy. Having them on CD may be worth $5 for the convenience. The alternatives are to (1) download to a jump drive from a wired connection on campus or (2) configure manually.

Manual configuration is not very complicated if you have Vista. See http://kb.iu.edu/data/awzp.html.

For XP, there are more steps – and you must have either Service Pack 3 or Wireless LAN API to run IU Secure. To download Service Pack 3 or Wireless LAN API and configure manually, see http://kb.iu.edu/data/awxq.html.

IUware CD Fall 2008

The following software is included on this CD and the same or equivalent software is available for Macs. Although it's not listed here, Microsoft Office is also a free download from IUWare.
