Planning Ahead
As you begin to think about licensing exams, take a look at USMLE Overview.
To get an idea of what the registration process is like, see the USMLE Sample Registration Form.

You may want to practice for the exam at the Exam Master site or at the USMLE Orientation and Practice site.
Keep the competency requirements in mind by checking the UME Database of Competency Curriculum (DoCC)
It's never too early to think about specialties. Visit Careers In Medicine — an AAMC Website.
As your second year progresses, you will also need to plan for Third-year Rotations, using these resources:
- Block Rotation Calendar -- SAMPLE
- Family Medicine Locations 2011-2012 -- SAMPLE
- You will need a smartphone for Clinical Encounters Tracking (CET). Be sure to check on the specifications for the coming academic year, as they may change.

Printing & Other Technology
Printing subsidy — Part of the student technology fee at the IUSM–Indy campus is used to offset students’ printing costs. Second year students receive an allotment of 300 pages each. You can use your Jagtag (student ID) to print for free in the Medical Library and in MS016A.
When your subsidy is almost exhausted, notify Card Services to switch to your own funds. (The switch-over doesn’t happen automatically until you hit zero, and when it does, you could lose printing capability until the next morning.)
Technology Pages — For more about technology resources at IUSM, see the MSA technology pages.
